The basic outline of a story is that you need a plot and an antagonist and a protagonist. The antagonist tries to end the story. The protagonist tries to push the story into the future. The antagonist wants to end. The protagonist wants to continue.
When we tell ourselves same-old-same-old, it’s no use, it is what it is, life sucks and then you die, that is the antagonist talking. But when we say tomorrow is a new day, many hands make light work, have faith, that is the protagonist talking. Jesus came to defeat the antagonist, the tempter, the devil, so that we are people of hope and love.
Let Us Pray: Father in Heaven, help us to understand our own stories in light of your forgiveness and promise of eternity. Free us from resentment and despair and makes us believe in the power of good. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
