Children, Youth & Family Coordinator (Full-Time)
Position Type: Full-Time Staff
Reports to: Pastor, in collaboration with the Personnel Committee
Starting salary: $45,000-$50,000 annually, with benefits

Schedule: Flexible hours including evenings and weekends; occasional travel for camps, conferences, and outreach opportunities

First Lutheran Church, Hayward, WI, is a welcoming, outreach-focused congregation seeking a passionate and creative CYF Coordinator to nurture faith, build intergenerational relationships, and engage children, youth and families in meaningful ministry. This role partners closely with existing congregational ministries, while also helping develop new outreach opportunities. The ideal candidate brings energy, organization, ELCA Lutheran theology, and a heart for young people, along with the ability to collaborate with staff, volunteers, students and parents.

Qualifications:

    • Experience working with children and youth (church or nonprofit setting preferred)
    • Strong grounding in ELCA Lutheran theology
    • Ability to engage positively and collaborate effectively with staff, parents, volunteers, congregation members, and the wider community
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Self-motivated with initiative and follow-through excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Commitment to professional growth through networking and continuing education
    • Comfort using technology and social media for communication
    • Post High School Degree

Key Responsibilities:

    • Expand on the scope & sequence currently in place for Terrific Tuesday (K-5), Confirmation (6-8) and Youth Group (9-12). This mission-focused curriculum frame and plan meet kids where they are at, equips and inspires them to use their God-given strengths and personalities in the world for Jesus’ sake
    • Create and maintain the school-year CYF calendar and manage ministry logistics
    • Share calendars, registrations, and ministry updates with families, staff, and church Webmaster
    • Recruit, train, support, and communicate regularly with volunteers and mentors
    • Primary leader and coordinator of CYF sessions, activities and related worship services
    • Maintain consistent communication with parents and caregivers
    • Communicate directly with high school and college students
    • Explore and implement faith-forming opportunities and outreach for families
    • Coordinate care packages for college/trade school students twice per year
    • Attend weekly Church Staff Meetings and Worship Services at First Lutheran
    • Coordinate annual Communion Instruction in partnership with Pastor and families
    • Promote Bible Camp participation and assist families with financial support, including coordination with Camp Wapo. (Amery, WI)
    • Ensure current background checks for volunteers and applicable staff
    • Maintain and purchase supplies
    • Evaluate ministry regularly
    • Manage CYF Budget and fundraising (as determined)
